TEACHING AND PEDAGOGY

NSA&D Teaching and Learning Conference, 2026

 

Teaching is a central part of my practice and functions as a form of research in its own right. I work across photography and visual culture education, developing learning environments that sustain dialogue between critical theory and creative practice.

I am currently a Lecturer in BA (Hons) Photography at Nottingham Trent University, where I contribute across all years of the programme and lead theory‑focused teaching. I convene History, Context and Near Future of Photography, a core module taught across Photography, Sports Photography, and Fashion Photography, which explores the political, technological, and speculative dimensions of photographic image‑making.

My teaching spans lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and dissertation supervision, and includes work on interdisciplinary and collaborative modules across the School of Art and Design. I have also developed online learning resources to support cross‑course teaching and student access.

In addition to higher education teaching, I regularly deliver guest lectures, portfolio reviews, talks, and workshops for universities, galleries, and community organisations, reflecting a long‑standing commitment to public and accessible arts education.

Across my teaching, I aim to create supportive, critical spaces that recognise different ways of learning and knowing, and that foreground the social, political, and ethical stakes of contemporary visual practice.
